StormCon 2023 heads to Dallas

July 18, 2023
This year's event will be held from August 29-31 at the Sheraton Dallas.

Pack up your cowboy hats and boots, StormCon is heading to Texas.

StormCon, the stormwater industry's premier event connecting stormwater managers, erosion control specialists and engineers, will be held from August 29-31 in Dallas, Texas, at the Sheraton Dallas.

With more than 35 educational sessions in seven tracks, including green infrastructure; flood modeling and mitigation; programs, permits and compliance; transportation and construction stormwater; BMP monitoring; industrial stormwater management and new this year, erosion control, attendees will have access to knowledge and insight on advancing the science and practice of stormwater management.

Tours

The event will kick off on Tuesday, August 29 with a tour of AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Those who pre-register for this event will have the chance to visit the media press box, the Cotton Bowloffices, the Cowboys’ locker room, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ locker room and more. Mike Peterson, P.E. for Graham Associates, will also walk attendees through the stormwater elements of the stadium.

But that isn’t the only tour being offered this year. To conclude the conference, attendees can spend the afternoon of August 31 touring the Trinity River Corridor, including stops at the Pavaho Pump Station, the Ronald Kirk Bridge and the Pavaho Wetlands.

Keynote address

In addition to the tours, there are plenty of other exciting events, including our Keynote Address, which will take place from 8-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30. This year’s keynote speaker is Reem Zoun, director of flood planning for the Texas Water Development Board.
Zoun will touch on topics such as flood risk reduction, funding, collaboration at the federal and state levels and future condition flooding and will provide an update on the findings from Texas’s first ever statewide regional flood planning and the status of state flood planning effort.

Panel Discussion

And, new this year, is a collaboration with the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA). NMSA, a 501(c)(3), will be hosting four educational sessions on Wednesday, August 30, that will focus on the Stormwater Testing and Evaluation for Products and Practices (STEPP) Program and national issues in stormwater. Speakers will include NMSA members who are also recognized industry professionals, including Seth Brown, who is the executive director of NMSA, and Randy Neprash, vice chair of NMSA. To expand on the STEPP Program, we will be hosting a panel on Wednesday afternoon that explores how to use STEPP to move the industry forward. Brown, along with Greg Williams of StormTrap and the Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association and Robert Adair of Convergent Water Technologies,Inc., will share their perspectives and answer audience questions.

Between the networking reception on Wednesday and the exhibit hall giveaway, this year’s event is not to be missed. If you have not yet registered for StormCon, visit www.stormcon.com. We hope to see you there!
