The Shenandoah Watershed

Comments

The name Shenandoah is Native American in origin and can be translated as “Daughter of the Stars.” Within the larger Chesapeake Bay watershed, the Shenandoah River drains 1.5 million acres of the eastern ranges of the Appalachian Mountains. The Shenandoah watershed encompasses parts of 11 counties in two states, Virginia and West Virginia. The river itself flows from south to north on its way to its confluence with the Potomac River at Harpers Ferry, WV.
